I’m using a Libratone ZIPP MINI 2 to stream music from my Macbook Air M1 (running the latest Monterey 12.4) via Airplay.
When first connecting to the ZIPP, everything works fine. But: when I close the Macbook to come back later or play pauses and goes to “sleep” for other reasons and I try to reconnect to the ZIPP, it’s just not possible: in the Music app’s Airplay dialog, instead of the “checkmark”, there will be a minus symbol. Additionally, the Airplay icon will have an exclamation mark.
I can switch back to local playback on my Macbook, I can switch to *other* Airplay devices (eg Yahama Musiccast speakers), but every time I switch back to ZIPP – no luck.
This problem has never appeared on my old Macbook Pro before (it didn’t run Monterey, so I can’t tell if it’s hardware or software related). Also, I use my iPhone 8 a lot with the Zipp – never a problem.
What I’ve tried so far to gain root access:
– turn ZIPP off and on again: no reconnection possible
– restarting my WIFI: no reconnection possible
– the only thing that works: restarting my Macbook Air (which led me to believe that this is clearly an Apple problem – not a ZIPP problem)
Very annoying – because I have to reboot (which I usually rarely do) just to keep playing music.
Does anyone encounter a similar problem? Did you solve it somehow?
Cheers,
Jörg
