(Pocket-lint) – Apple Music could be getting a new companion app, according to details datamined in the iOS 15.5 beta – and it’s focused on classical music.
New confirmation messages have been found asking if users are happy to play songs “In Apple Classical”, which is described as a “new application optimized for classical music”.
That seems like a pretty clear indication that Apple is going to add its own classical music app for those who want a more focused experience, and that’s no huge surprise given that it bought Primephonic last year, a such app.
To do so without a clear goal would have been a little surprising, so it seems like you can expect Apple’s own take on the Primephonic experience to arrive at some point. It will also be interesting to find out exactly what these optimizations will mean for the user.
Of course, there is no guarantee when the new app could come out, with Apple usually playing things pretty close to its chest.
We might get an announcement about the app during WWDC 2022, which happens in June, but we shouldn’t rule out the possibility that Apple will just release the app when it’s ready, be it with significant timing. or not.
